Newlyweds urged to update records

St Valentine’s Day is being used by South Northants Council to remind newly married woman who have given up their maiden name to change their details on the electoral register.

Councillor Ian McCord, member of resources, said credit checking agencies use the electoral register as a means of carrying out background checks for anything from mobile phone contracts to mortgages.
