Nine-month sentence for Bicester Village thief
A thief has been sentenced to nine months in prison after admitting to shoplifting and handling stolen goods.
Lester McCalla, 34, from Cowley, pleaded guilty to charges including stealing a Versace handbag worth £480 from Bicester Village on July 29.
He pleaded guilty to two counts of shoplifting and one count of handling stolen goods at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.
PC Sarah Piddington, investigating officer, said: “I am pleased with the nine-month sentence handed out to McCalla, which reflects his persistent offending.
“McCalla was arrested, charged, and imprisoned in just over 24 hours, so I hope the speed at which justice was delivered, and the nine-month prison sentence, act as a warning to other thieves that we will catch you and put you up before the court.”
The theft of six handbags from TK Maxx in Oxford was also taken into account.
