The Church of St Mary hidden on the Easton Neston estate near Towcester, will throw open its doors to the public this weekend as part of the Heritage Open Day scheme.
The church, which dates back to the 13th century and sits alongside Nicholas Hawksmoor’s Easton Neston House, will be open between 10am and 6pm on Saturday, September 14, and there will be refreshments on offer.
The church has many hidden secrets, including oak boxed pews, stained glass, heraldic tablets on the wall and magnificent monuments.
A church service will take place at 6pm. The Open Day also coincides with the ‘Ride and Stride’ event, a sponsored bike ride and walk which helps to preserve church buildings and their unique landscape.
The annual event helps raise funds for the church as well as the National Churches Trust.
