POLICE are looking for members of the public to help catch racist vandals who daubed graffiti on a bridge in Buckingham.

Two lots of graffiti have now been found on the Railway Walk.

Buckingham PC Richard Davis told the Advertiser: “The week before Christmas, racist graffiti appeared on the top of the bridge over Bath Lane.

“Because of the nature of it, we had it removed by Aylesbury Vale District Council.”

“Then last Thursday, a dog walker reported more racist graffiti.”

The graffiti consisted of obscene language and an obscene cartoon-style image, both apparently designed to cause offence to Muslims.

Our picture shows the location of the graffiti but the image has been obliterated to avoid causing offence.

Police stepped in quickly to paint out the anti-social markings and the graffiti has now been completely cleared away.

PC Davis said: “We’re looking for someone who has an issue.”

And he appealed to members of the public to be vigilant and to turn in the culprit.

“Someone knows who it is,” he said. “We want to say to people, if you know someone who has spray paint and doesn’t use it for their work, please report it.

“If they’ve got spray paint and they don’t use it for their job or for a particular purpose, we need to know.”

He asked parents to keep their eyes open as well.

“Check if your child has spray paint,” he said.

“It’s not the sort of thing children normally have.”

And he asked for any witnesses who may have seen someone up on the bridge using spray paint to step forward.

Contact PC Davis at Buckingham Police Station via the new police non-emergency number 101.
