Police hunt down Towcester man suspected of downloading indecent images of children
A 28-year-old man from Towcester has been released on bail after being arrested on suspicion of downloading and distributing indecent images of children.
He was among a group of nine others arrested across Northamptonshire yesterday, Thursday, September 27, as part of Operation Challenge under the Protection of Children Act.
The man from Towcester and six others have since been released on conditional bail, while two were released without charge pending further enquiries.
Those bailed also include a 76-year-old man from Corby, a 24-year-old man from Wellingborough, a 53-year-old man from Northampton, a 37-year-old man and 26-year-old woman from Rushden, a and a 59-year-old man from Watford village.
In a statement Detective Constable Carole Walton, who led the investigation, said: “The arrests came at the end of a long investigation and I’m delighted with today’s results.
“We are fully committed to tackling what amounts to blatant child abuse. Behind every indecent image is a crime scene and an abused child.
“We will continue to hunt down individuals who prey on children in this way.”
