Proposals finalised for Northants boundary changes
Local Government Boundary Commission for England, finalised proposals for changes to Northants County Council electora; divisions. A countywide reduction of 16 counclillors.
DEMOCRACY: South Northants will lose one of its county councillors in the next local authority election after the boundary commission made its final recommendations.
The independent Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) submitted its final recommendations this week following an eight week consultation.
From the next election county voters will be represented my 57 members, 16 fewer than the current arrangements.
In south Northants the Greens Norton division will be combined with part of the Middle Cheney division to form a larger Silverstone divion.
Brackley West will be folded into the remains of the Middle Cheney divsion and Brackley will now be represented by one person at county hall.
The Roade divsion will cease to exist and will be folded onto inflated Towcester and Deanshanger divisions.
LGBCE chairman Max Caller said: “Across the county, we have sought to balance the views expressed to us by local people with the criteria we must apply when we are deciding new electoral arrangements.
“As such we believe these recommendations deliver electoral equality for local voters as well as reflecting the interests of communities across Northamptonshire.”
