Royal visit to mark 30th year of service

Buckingham had a royal visit yesterday, Tuesday, when HRH Princess Anne, The Princess Royal, came to the Buckingham Winslow and District Citizens Advice Bureau.
The bureau celebrates its 30th year of service to the community this year and has also been awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
The princess, who is a patron of the National Association of Citizens Advice Bureaux, was there to unveil a commemorative plaque.
Although late in arriving due to weather conditions which prevented her helicopter from taking off, the princess spent a good half hour talking to the assembled volunteer staff and local dignitaries. She also cut a celebration cake.
Outgoing bureau chairman James Penderleith welcomed the princess: “This visit is an exceptional moment for us all in what is becoming a most memorable anniversary year.”
The princess said: “You do have a lot to celebrate.
“The fact that you are so busy speaks volumes.”
This was Mr Penderleith’s last official engagement, as chairman, and he told the Advertiser: “It doesn’t get any better than this.”
Before leaving, she signed the visitors’ book and was presented with a posy of flowers by Lauren and Holly Bridgen, of Buckingham, the granddaughters of CAB manager Janis Harding.
