RSPCA appeal after puppy with broken hip is dumped at Bicester vets surgery
THE RSPCA has appealed for information after a nine-week-old puppy with a badly broken hip was found dumped outside Bicester Veterinary Centre on Wednesday last week.
The white and tan Staffordshire bulle terrier-type dog was found by staff at the surgery in Victoria Road at about 4.40pm.
RSPCA inspector Doug Davidson said: “This poor young pup spent more than two-and-a-half hours in pain in the box in the car park before he was discovered.
He added: “The person who left the dog there may have thought they were doing the right thing by leaving him at a vet surgery, but it is always unacceptable to dump an animal – as an owner you have a duty to look after your pets.”
CCTV recorded a man acting furtively in the car park at about 2pm. The slim young man, dressed in a purple T-shirt, was seen leaving a box on the ground among rows of parked cars before jumping over a wall.
The young dog, named Don by staff, was unable to stand when he was found. He is now making a good recovery after an operation.
