Last Friday was a special day for Beachborough School in Westbury as their new sports hall was officially opened by rugby star Dylan Hartley of England and Northampton Saints.

Mr Hartley, pictured here with head boy, Jamie Jackson, head girl, Maya Tearle and headmaster, Jonathan Whybrow, enjoyed an hour of penetrating questions having first cut the ceremonial ribbon. He said: “This was a very enjoyable event and I am sure that children of all abilities will benefit from this wonderful facility.”

Mr Whybrow said plans are well underway to make the sports hall available to Westbury residents and to turn the old gym into a theatre.

He added: “Further exciting times lie ahead.”

The 600sqm hall cost £850,000 and is capable of hosting archery, gymnastics, judo, karate, ballet, table tennis, and will eventually house a climbing wall.
