Seven-year high for Oxon school choice

The percentage of Oxfordshire children getting a place at their first-choice secondary school is at its highest since 2006.

Almost 93 per cent of children, a total of 5,445 pupils, were allocated a place at their preferred school for the 2013/14 academic year.

The level of first choices was up by more than one per cent on last year.

Just over one per cent of pupils, around 60 in total, did not get a place at their first, second or third-choice school. Notification of school places was sent to parents by post or email last Friday.
