Speaker takes the plunge for 5km charity attempt
Buckingham MP John Bercow is aiming to swim 200 lengths of the Swan Pool – equal to 5km – in support of Padbury-based charity Brain Tumour Research, of which he is a patron.
Mr Bercow is taking part in a Marathon Sport Challenge, hosted by the Swan Pool and Leisure Centre on Saturday. And he’s already attracted more than £2,000 in sponsorship to his Justgiving page.
Another patron, Olympic swimmer Craig Gibbons, from Buckingham, will also be attending the event, which forms part of the charity’s Conquer It Together campaign.
The event, which takes place between 9am and 4pm, includes five sporting disciplines – swimming, running, cycling, spincycling and zumba, as well as a triathlon, which consists of cycleathon, swimathon and runathon.
