SILVERSTONE residents are calling for the Prime Minister to put his money where his mouth is as they back South Northants Council planners in a appeal against 220 homes.

Placards have been put up around the village and campaigners have promised a strong turnout when the planning inspector opens a Public Inquiry next Tuesday into proposal by Banner Homes for land between the village and the racing circuit.

Despite being confined by the A43 dual carriageway the land is not within the confines of the village. The plans were also opposed by 90 per cent of village residents in a survey.

Dermot Bambridge, SNC’s member for Silverstone, said the PM has made it clear he is committed to the Localism Bill which will give power to the people in such cases

He added: “This planning application was refused by SNC for a large number of policy and other reasons but not least that Silverstone residents have clearly voiced their opposition to it.”

Village resident Kevin Broadhurst added: “Such a development is not sustainable and will ruin the character of our special village.”
