Stalwart shares her memories of how town once used to be

The ever changing face of Buckingham will be the subject of a talk at the Old Gaol next month.
Buckingham stalwart Rosemary Heywood has owned three town centre business during her life, and a memory of all things Buckingham which stretches back to before the second world war.
Her talk from 7.30pm on Wednesday, March 13, is dubbed ‘How Buckingham Used To Be’ and explores her memories of major physical changes to the buildings and business of Buckingham.
Mrs Heywood remembers when the Bull Ring referred the space in front of the Whale Pub, and when the town was served by six grocers and six butchers.
She said: “I’m born and breed here in Buckingham and it has changed such a lot since my childhood days. So I’m going to talk about how the buildings have changed, what they were and how it all come about.”
Mrs Heywood plans to take her audience on a trip around Buckingham starting at the Bull Ring and finishing at Buckingham’s old railway station having stopped to talk about buildings in High Street, Market Square, Castle Street and Nelson Street, all of which will be supported by photographic evidence.
