Steeple Claydon author is Attenborough of dragons and unicorns
Fabulous Beasties book with Robyn Woodbridge, left and Angela Hawker, right. 120531M-D575
RATHER than describing the mythical characteristics of real creatures, an author from Steeple Claydon has written a book about the real characteristics of mythical creatures.
Fabulous Bestes by Robyn Woodbridge is written in the style of a wildlife guide, but instead of buzzards and water voles her book features Griffins, Unicorns and Dragons.
The 28-year-old, who has had two stories published on the Advertiser’s short story page, said: “I’ve not just done them as they appear in the original legend. I’ve done it as if the creatures actually existed and offer possible explanations of how a Dragon might breath fire.”
Ms Woodbridge hopes the book will inspire young minds, or act as a reference for aspiring writers.
She added: “I’ve been into myths and legends all my life, and I’ve always believed there was something at the beginning which sparked all these legends and myths.
“So I wanted to give people a different way of looking at it, and perhaps a few people might wonder if things really are the way they thought they were. We live in a world where we think we know everything, but even a scientist will say you never know what’s around the corner.”
Fabulous Bestes is available through Amazon for £5.99.
