AFTER years of discussion Brackley Town Council has to agreed the next steps in the revitalisation of two town landmarks.

On Monday evening Brackley councillors agreed to work with South Northants Council and project managers Ingham Pinnock Associates to carry out a major refurbishment of the Town Hall.

In a second decision they also agreed to purchase the Old Fire Station in High Street from the National Trust and to enter into a long lease agreement for the adjacent Brackley Park.

In a statement cllr Kath Bonner–Dunham, chairman of the Town Hall Working Group, said she is delighted the two projects can finally proceed and added: “Brackley Town Council has been working towards this project for many years and it is really exciting that we can now see our plans materialising at a time when there is growth planned for the town.”

Ingham Pinnock Associates will now work with officers and councillors on preparing a business case which they hope will support the delivery of goals identified in the Brackley Masterplan and the economic development of the town.

Cllr Bonner-Dunham said details on the future use of the fire station are yet to decided but that it must be able to serve community groups, civic functions and must be financially self sufficient.
