A Bure Park resident said those behind the Eco Town proposals helped allay fears the development will not deliver the environmental gains promised.

Last Thursday members of the Bure Park Residents Association (BPRA) attended a presentation at Bure Farm Pub by representatives of developer A2Dominion.

Jim Tucker, BPRA founder and a member of Bicester Town Council, said the presentation of the plans for nearly 400 zero carbon zero homes off the north western edge of the town, was comprehensive and well attended by residents.

Mr Tucker said the biggest concern was parents arriving with the first phase of the development clogging up already congested roads when taking their children to school. But he said he is confident Oxon County Council will build a new school on the development during the first phase. Mr Tucker added: “I had some concern about the validity of the development eco-credentials. But I spoke to some very clued up people who allayed my fears, and then have sent me documentation showing how strict building codes will be implemented.”

Along side the ‘green’ homes and school the development will be include; a district heating centre, an eco-pub, and a business centre.

Louise Caves, strategic partnership co-ordinator at A2Dominion, said: “We wanted to hold this informal event to offer residents the opportunity to ask questions directly to the team working on this unique project, which will be to the benefit of the whole of Bicester.”
