Teen is critical after car crash

THERE has been an outpouring of support for a Brackley teenager left in a coma following a car crash last weekend.
The teen, whose friends celebrated her 15th birthday on Wednesday, was one of four passengers in a red MG Rover ZR hatchback travelling away from the A43 along the A422 between the Tesco and Banbury Road roundabouts when it careered off the road at around 9.30pm on Saturday, January 28.
Yesterday a police spokesman confirmed the teenager, named locally as Millie Toman, was still in a critical condition.
A 17-year-old from Evenley and a 16-year-old from Brackley were also seriously injured but are said to be in a stable condition, while a 15-year-old girl from Brackley has been released from hospital. The 17-year-old driver received minor injures and after being treated in hospital he was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and released on bail.
Facebook groups set up in support of the 15-year-old have attracted thousands of supporters and a candlelight vigil was due to take place last night at Brackley Recreation Ground. Fellow students at Magdalen College School have also been spreading messages of support with posters and signs around the school.
Many are using social networking site Twitter to urge others to pray for Millie.
One Facebook friend said: “Sending positive vibes and strength to Millie and her family. Keep fighting.”
In a statement MCS headteacher Ian Colling said they are working to support students upset by the crash and had extended support to the families of those students involved.
The Brackley Youth Hub was also open late on Wednesday evening for young people wanting to pray together and a whole wall has been set aside for messages of support.
Hub trustee Dr Tony Holden said: “A lot of Hub members knew those involved in the crash and certainly there has been quite a strong reaction to what’s happened.”
