A GIRL from Towcester has made it through to the semi-finals of Miss Teen Great Britain.

14-year-old Abbey-Anne Gyles of the Shires Estate is among hundreds of teenagers from the across the country who have entered the competition.

Organisers say Miss Teen GB is not a beauty contest and the interview section counts for 50 per cent of contestants total score.

Abbey-Anne had taken part in a another similar contest after being spotted at a fashion show. She wasn’t successful but was spotted at a second fashion show by Miss Teen GB officials.

Abbey-Anne said: “I’m so excited to have made it to the semi-final, it feels like a great achievement.

“But making the grand final would be a dream come true - fingers crossed I will be able to represent my hometown and win the Miss Teen Great Britain Crown.”

In September 2011, Constance Baldwin became the first contestant to be crowned with the title of Miss Teen GB. She received a glamorous package of prizes including a £500 gift voucher for an exclusive dress retailer and a £1,000 cash prize.

If she is successful at the semi-finals Abbey-Anne will take part in the grand final at the Blackpool Globe in September.
