The winner of Buckingham Rotary’s ‘Guess the value of the goods’ trolley was just 1p short of its actual value.
Caroline Carne, of Winslow, guessed the value at £169.34 and was delighted to receive the goods in time for Christmas.
Mrs Carne said it was a fantastic Christmas present.
“I would like to thank Rotary for making it possible,” she said.
Held over a weekend during the festive season, the ‘Guess the value’ event raised more than £1,000, for local charities and Tesco’s own charity Cancer Research UK.
During December, the Rotary Club of Buckingham collected £5,064 from its carol concert, Christmas Parade float, Tesco and Waitrose collections and the street float/Santa’s house.
The latter was franchised to four organisations – the Swan Community Hub, Buckingham Youth Club, Young Carers and St Peter & St Paul’s Holiday Club – which benefited to the tune of £1,235.
Rotary honorary secretary Steve Heywood said: “All in all we have had another very successful fundraising season and we would thank most sincerely the people of Buckingham and surrounding villages for their generosity.”
The next fundraising event is the Swimathon at the Swan Pool on March 9.
