Television presenter and Strictly Come Dancing star Johnny Ball will be giving a science lecture at the Royal Latin School.

Ball has shared his enthusiasm for maths, science and future technology for more than 30 years and has written and presented 23 television series, including Think Of A Number and Johnny Ball Reveals All.

The BAFTA award winner – who took part in the latest series of Strictly Come Dancing – has agreed to deliver an afternoon lecture at the Royal Latin in support of the school’s 600 Campaign. The campaign aims to raise £5 million by 2015 to build an innovative science and technology Discovery Centre.

Assistant headteacher Chris George said: “We are thrilled Johnny has agreed to visit us again. His last lecture here several years ago was a sell-out, and very much enjoyed by all ages.

“Johnny is as enthusiastic and energetic as ever and he brings science, maths and technology to life in the same way we endeavour to at the Royal Latin.”

The lecture will take place at 4pm on Tuesday, March 19, in the main hall.

Tickets (£5 for adults, £2.50 for children under 16) can be reserved by e-mailing jjones@royallatin.bucks.sch.uk or call the school on 01280 813065.

The 600 Campaign aims to bring one of the oldest schools in England into the 21st century. It will consist of three major phases – the construction of the Discovery Centre in 2015, followed by at least two further phases of capital improvements, all before the 600th anniversary of the school in 2023.
