Buckingham Canal Society hosted a Heritage Open Day on Sunday, as a 350m section of disused canal at Bourton Meadow has been restored to hold water for the first time in nearly 100 years.
Canal society chairman Athina Beckett said: “About 150 people turned up, in spite of the inclement weather, and most people seemed very impressed.”
MP for Buckingham John Bercow will cut the ribbon at the official opening on Saturday, October 26. A new walk leaflet will be available to guide people along the two and a half miles to the canal society’s nature reserve site.
