AFTER answering 50 life saving emergency calls in less that a year Towcester’s Community First Responders are appealing for volunteers.
CFRs are trained to use defibrillators and as they operate within the communities in which they live they can often arrive faster than an ambulance.
There are currently 10 volunteers in the Towcester group, which also covers Silverstone, Abthorpe, Greens Norton and the surrounding areas.
Since the group was set up in May 2011 they have been called to 50 incidents, 22 of which occurred this year.
In January last year Brackley CFR Dianne Pearson saved her husband Jeff when he had a heart attack at Brackley Leisure Centre.
CFRs are trained by the ambulance service to a nationally recognised standard. To get involved call 07805 176870.
