Volunteers clear up after irresponsible litter louts

After four large bins bags of rubbish were collected by volunteers from a park in Deanshanger a district councillor said he hopes it will encourage others to take responsibility for the places where they live.

During a ‘Day of Action’ residents, councillors and pupils from the Elizabeth Woodville School filled bags with discarded drinks containers, sweet wrappers, and crisp packets collected from the Springfield Open Space.

David Aaronson, South Northants Council’s member for Deanshanger, said: “I was very pleased to take part and let the village see that we recognise their concerns and the need to improve the area.

“I hope it will encourage  more residents to take responsibility for where they live and so create a pleasant environment.”
