Visitors from far and wide witnessed the country way of life at its best during the Bucks County Show yesterday.

The day’s entertainment ranged from horse show-jumping to a humorous dog and duck show, which enthralled the crowds who came prepared with wellies to wade through the muddy field.

One of the highlights of the afternoon was the stirring sound of the RAF Halton pipes and drums band, which performed in the main ring.

Show secretary Alison Bayliss said: “It’s not the best gate we’ve had but it’s certainly been very good and people have come out to support the show. I met visitors from London who’d never been so close to farm animals.

“And it’s great to see the phenomenal effort from people who bring their animals each year to help promote agriculture and the farming way of life”

The show also featured a classic tractor display, the Bolddog Lings Freestyle Motorcycle Stunt team, the Old Berkley Beagles, and country crafts like woodworking, hedgelaying, and lacemaking.
