There was traffic disruption across south Northants this this afternoon after a lorry driver was hurt while changing a tyre.

At around 11.40am the emergency services were called to the lay-by on the A43 between the BP junction and the A422.

Diversions created gridlock in both Brackley and Buckingham until the middle of the afternoon.

A spokesman for Northants police said: “It looks like there was a lorry which possibly fell onto the driver.

“The air ambulance attended and the road was closed in both directions to allow them to land.

“It looks like he received leg injuries which are not life threatening.”

A spokesman for the Air Ambulance said the driver was a 46-year-old man and the they administered pain relief at the scene and placed his leg in a splint for the journey to University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire.
