Sulgrave Manor in Northamptonshire has been listed on the 2014 World Monuments Watch, which draws international attention and support to some of the world’s most remarkable and fragile cultural heritage including the city of Venice. The 16th Century manor house, which was built by Lawrence Washington, a wool merchant and ancestor of George Washington – the first president of the United States of America – joins a diverse group of 67 sites from 41 countries and areas across the world.

The World Monuments Fund has stated Sulgrave Manor is in the risk zone because issues generating enough revenue has meant the house is often unable to keep up with the maintenance needs of the building. For more details, go to
