BUCKINGHAM couple Steve and Rosemary Heywood, pictured, have been working on it all year, and Saturday, December 11, is the big day.

Buckingham Christmas Parade sets off on its route through the town from Chandos Road at 10.45am.

One of the biggest public events in the town, last year’s parade drew a crowd of 5,000 to 6,000 people, lining the route six or seven deep.

This year’s theme is films, and there are 46 entries, including a dozen floats. The best floats and walkers receive prizes.

Road closures will be in place on the day from 10.30am, except for Chandos Road and Station Road, which will be closed from 8.30am.

Then there’s a chance to do some charitable Christmas shopping at the Buckingham Community Fair, in the community centre in Cornwall’s Meadow, from 11.30am to 2pm. Gifts on sale include knitwear, jewellery and Fairtrade goods.
