A NEW chapter in the story of Winslow’s police office began this week, when two new local volunteers started work .

Neighbourhood PC Martin Siderman has been working for over a year to get volunteer staffing, in order to make sure the office can open at set times every week.

And, after undergoing training, this week Winslow residents Andy Dyke and Ruth Ash both turned up for their first shifts staffing the front desk.

Mr Dyke, aged 60, is a part-time bookkeeper and DJ, whose son Ben is an acting police sergeant. Mr Dyke volunteered his services when he first heard the Winslow office was opening.

Ms Ash, who works in human resources, said: “It’s my way of paying something back to the neighbourhood policing team who have made life in Winslow so much better.”

The office will be now be staffed regularly from 10am to 2pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

PC Siderman would welcome more volunteers. Leave your contact details at the office or call him via 0845 8 505505.
