Hundreds of people enjoyed the 14th Music In The Market on Sunday.

The annual event in Market Square, organised by Buckingham Acoustic Club and supported by Buckingham Town Council, gave residents nine hours of live music for free.

More than a dozen bands and solo artists took to the stage with Syd Twineham’s Montanas headlining the festival.

The line-up also included Linda Watkins, country rockers Roadhouse, acoustic-based rock from David Cattermole, songwriter Marian Wedley and club regulars Ian Murray and Reif Greatbatch.

There was even a Zumba session in the afternoon led by Janey Betts, who collected £60 from the dance for Cancer Research UK.

Event organiser Fraser Winterbottom said he was thrilled to see so many familiar acts from the club perform in a great atmosphere.

He said: “It was brilliant. People built up steadily throughout the day so we had quite a crowd, of about 400 to 500, watching the three big acts in the evening.

“Thanks to the council – they’re always big supporters and the crowd were great, helped clear up, all very good natured.

“The acoustic club meets every Thursday at The Woolpack and it was great to see so many acts from there.

“A lot of those who performed on Sunday have played at the club at some time.”
