Local people wanting to study for a degree at the University of Buckingham are eligible for a £2,500 Four Counties Scholarship.
This is more than double the previous scholarship amount.
The award is open to anyone living in Bucks, Northants, Oxon or Beds.
In order to qualify for a place on one of the university’s degree courses, which are all completed in two years, students must meet the conditions of their offer and make a firm acceptance of a direct offer of a place.
Pro vice-chancellor Julian Lovelock said: “This is a brilliant opportunity for anyone who wants to do a degree but who needs help with the fees.
“Living locally and doing a degree at Buckingham saves you more than £20,000. It is cheaper than taking a traditional three-year course a long way from home.
“We are the UK’s top university for graduate prospects, according to the National Student Survey.”
