The chairman of a carnival team says he is ‘over the moon’ after 3,500 people enjoyed stalls, entertainment and a procession through the town.
Brackley Community Carnival took place on Saturday at Magdalen College School and was opened by town mayor Elaine Wiltshire after a procession from the old Sawmills site.
Carnival chairman Mark Stopps said: “It was a great day. Everything was a highlight and we were over the moon with the number of people that came which was around 3,500.
“I’m very grateful to everyone who came to watch and to those who took part.”
The main attractions on the day came from Starlight Dance Academy and the Vander Brothers’ space wheel of death, which Mr Stopps described as ‘phenomenal’.
He said he is ‘indebted’ to the carnival’s sponsors for keeping the costs down. They were LC Brackley, Taylor Wimpey Homes, The Crown Hotel, Brackley and Bridge Motors, Banbury.
He added although the event is not a fundraiser, the money will go straight back into making sure next year’s carnival is even better.
