A chocolate thief has been ordered to pay more than £60 and was warned the punishment will be more severe if he steals sweets again.

Gary John Wickens, 32, of Leach Road in Bicester, took the treats from Wilkinson and then from McColl’s one week later.

He pleaded guilty to the two counts of theft at Banbury Magistrates’ Court on August 11 and was given an 18 month conditional discharge as well as being ordered to pay £66.50 in compensation.

The offences took place at two separate stores in Market Square, Bicester, on May 14 and 21.
