There’s still time to buy a duck and take part in an annual charity duck race that’s open to the public for the first time ever.
The University of Buckingham Duck Race takes place on Wednesday, and you can buy plastic ducks from the university bookshop on Hunter Street.
There will be prizes for the best-dressed duck in both adult and children categories as well as a prize for the winner of the race, which has been established for more than a decade.
About 200 plastic ducks will take part and entertainment will include a barbecue, ice cream, and specially-made alcoholic Fluffy Duck cocktails.
The University of Buckingham Musical Society will be performing songs from their forthcoming production of Grease, which they are performing at Stowe’s Roxburgh Theatre from August 28 to 30.
And there will be stalls laid on by business enterprise students, who have started businesses selling a variety of products.
Ducks cost £1 and proceeds will be shared between Buckingham Hospital and the University of Buckingham Supporting Overseas Schooling (UBSOS).
Ducks will be launched at 12.30pm from the end of the Mill Race, next to the weir on the Island Car Park, and float down the 100-metre stretch of water to Old Tanlaw Mill.
