The fire destroyed a number of scrap cars, stored as bales of metal, and investigations into the cause of the fire are now underway. Fire fighters warned residents in nearby Pattishall to stay indoors and close doors and windows to avoid smoke which was drifting across the village.

Due to the size of the fire, firefighters returned to the site on Sunday to ensure the scene was safe. It was handed back to the owners’ care on Monday.
