Fishy business as Stowe lake is drained

John Cracknell of specialist acquatic consultants A.G.A. Group holds a 10lb pike during a fish rescue operation at Stowe Landscape Gardens.

Draining of the Octagon Lake began this week as part of an operation to replace the dam and sluice. Fish and swan mussels are being relocated to the Eleven Acre Lake.

General manager Kerry Foster said: “It’s about protecting the cascade from flooding and ultimately protecting the lakes.”
