Ronnie Kray’s favourite 18 carat gold wristwatch was one of 150 items auctioned off for more than £100,000.

Items from the infamous gangster’s estate went under the hammer at JP Humbert Auctioneers in Towcester.

But the auction, which took place yesterday evening, Tuesday, attracted buyers from as far afield as America, Australia and Japan.

All items were consigned by Krays’ second wife Kate and a proportion of the money taken will be going to charity.

Auctioneer Jonathan Humbert said the global interest in the auction ‘reflects the perennial interest in the Kray twins’.

He said: “The 150 items, including paintings, letters, jewellery, watches and personal mementos from his Broadmoor prison cell attracted international interest with a 100 per cent sale rate.”

Included in the collection was a miniature birdcage clock, a well-used set of dominoes, cufflinks, dinner jackets, a crucifix, paintings and letters.
