Ten children from Buckingham’s George Grenville Academy saw their winning competition entries in print when a new leaflet was unveiled at a special assembly on Monday.
The leaflet, entitled We Love Buckingham, is a joint project between Bellway Homes, one of the house builders on the new Windsor Park development opposite Tesco, and George Grenville Academy.
Pupils were asked to write a statement and draw a picture of what they like best about Buckingham.
The top 10 entries, across three age groups, have had their entries published in the leaflet, which will be included in the welcome packs given to people moving into Bellway homes on Windsor Park.
The entries were judged by Lindsay Davenport of Bellway Homes and Advertiser and Review editor Jason Gibbins.
Teagan and Kiela Hughes-Briggs, Freddie Burman, Aidan Briggs-Grey, Leah Richardson, Nakitta Peacock, Jakk Green, Freya O’Neill, Aidan Bradley and Victoria Price each received a £10 voucher,
Mr Gibbins said: “The competition highlighted the talent, commitment and enthusiasm of pupils and staff at George Grenville Academy and the clear love our younger generation has for Buckingham and its many fine offerings.”
Headteacher Lucy Howard said: “We were delighted that the children’s work can be shared with the local community. The leaflet that Bellway Homes have created is fantastic and I am really proud of all the children who took part.”
As of this term, the former Grenville School, on Chandos Road, has been rebranded George Grenville Academy.
The school is now part of the Bourton Meadow Education Trust, which will also run the new primary school to be built on Windsor Park.
