A high-tech infrared machine has repaired town market place potholes ahead of an upcoming bike festival.
The 1 metre x 1 metre heater melts the old tarmac as it rolls over the hole to permanently fill it in.
Brackley Market Place was treated yesterday, Monday, by Nuphalt so the bikes can arrive smoothly for the Brackley Festival of Motorcycling on August 17.
Brackley Town councillor Mark Morrell said: “Safe surfaces are important to all of us who use our roads daily, but even more so for those on two wheels.
“I had seen this system before and believed it could be used on our main street to repair some of the defects before the Bike Festival this year. Whilst the crew were carrying out the works, a number of residents stopped to see what was happening and liked the idea of recycling the existing tarmac especially as there is no need for road breakers.”
County councillor for Brackley Jim Broomfield said: “I have been very impressed by what I have seen of this latest pothole repair system and will be pushing at the county council to see if we can acquire some of these systems for council use.”
