A nurse who runs a home care company is in the running for a prestigious national award.
Registered nurse Mary Gallimore, who runs Buckingham Home Care, has been nominated for a Health Hero Award for going above and beyond for patients with dementia
The awards, run by Boots UK in partnership with The Daily Mail and ITV’s This Morning, were launched in April to celebrate the thousands of healthcare workers who make a difference to people’s lives every day.
Mrs Gallimore said: “I’ve never thought of myself as a hero, merely someone doing their best for others in the local community.
“If by spending that extra five minutes with a patient or doing some small favour eases them, then I feel I’ve achieved something worthwhile.”
Boots pharmacist Rishi Munraknah, who is based in Buckingham said: “For the last two months, we’ve been encouraging people to get involved and nominate their personal Health Hero.
“Mary Gallimore is a great example of someone who has made a positive impact in their local community.
“They’ve had a significant influence on people’s lives and, on behalf of everyone in Buckingham, we’re delighted to have this opportunity to say ‘Thank you’ to them.”
Five nominees will receive an all-expenses paid VIP trip to London, staying at a five-star hotel and tickets to the Health Hero Awards gala dinner on Thursday, June 26.
The overall winner, to be announced at the gala dinner, will receive a family holiday worth up to £5,000.
