Have your say

On-street parking charges are not the right solution for the town, according to a county councillor.

People can have their say on parking in Buckingham town centre at a meeting on June 25, at 7pm in Buckingham Community Centre.

It has been organised by the parking working group set up by the Buckingham Local Area Forum to look into issues around on-street parking which have been raised by residents and businesses.

Bucks County Council has a policy of introducing on-street parking charges where appropriate.

But county councillor Warren Whyte, who will be chairing the meeting told the Advertiser: “I do not believe that is the right solution for Buckingham. The working group has no intention of proposing parking charges.

“I urge all people who work, live, shop, eat and drink in the town centre to attend so they have an opportunity to hear about the challenges and problems the parking working group has considered, and discuss possible solutions.”

Mr Whyte will be joined by county officers, cabinet member for transport Ruth Vigor-Hedderly and a representative from the county council’s parking enforcement contractor, NSL.
