LADIES of the Buckingham Inner Wheel finished off a busy year by planting an oak tree in celebration of the Diamond Jubilee Year.
After finding a location, getting permission to plant a tree, buying the Oak and having the soil tested for its suitability, it was finally planted in the new garden of remembrance at the Buckingham Cemetery in Brackley Road last month.
The Inner Wheel is the women’s branch of the Rotary Club and every year they hold two Soup Lunches in the community centre, and this year’s president Lyn Garton has also organised coffee mornings and garden parties to help raise money for causes in the Buckingham area, like the hospital car service,
There was also a big change the membership rules in 2012. Previously, to join the Inner Wheel a woman had to be related to a member of the Rotary Club. But the rule was changed opening membership to anyone.
