It’s carnival time again and there’s a packed programme of family fun on offer.

Brackley Community Carnival is on Saturday, June 14, starting with a procession setting off from Brackley Sawmills at 11am. This year’s theme is Anything Goes.

After the procession wends its way to the carnival field at the Magdalen College School St John’s Site, the carnival will be officially opened by the Mayor of Brackley at about noon.

Brackley Carnival is organised by Team Carnival, a small group of volunteers who aim to provide a great day out while giving local groups, charities and businesses a chance to raise money and promote themselves.

Every year, Team Carnival try hard to provide a wide range of acts and bands to entertain people, and this year is no exception, with the entry charge pegged again at £4 pre-paid and £5 on the day for adults, and free entry for children.

There are three performances from the amazing and delightful Slinkies – giant ‘slinkies’ who perform what is sometimes described as a strangely wonderful dance.

Also giving three performances is the Vander Space Wheel of Death, a spectacular act that made its debut at the Glastonbury Festival.

An 11-metre structure rotates on a central axis with a cage at the end of each axial. The Vander Brothers enter the cages and commence to rotate the wheel at ever-increasing speed, walking then running on the inside, and then on the outside of the cages.

The only one of its kind in the world, this act leaves crowds open-mouthed.

Meanwhile, in the Top Field, children can meet and handle the animals from the Animal Mania mobile zoo while parents take photos.

Up n Over Dog Training will be running a fun dog show with prized for categories including ‘Waggiest tail’, ‘Most appealing eyes’ and ‘Dog judge would like to take home’.

A community stage will offer a variety of entertainment from local entertainers and there will be be a huge range of stalls from local charities , organisations and businesses.
