Schoolchildren were treated to masterclasses in netball and cricket recently.
Thornton College School for Girls, near Buckingham, runs a special programme for pupils who have been identified as gifted and talented in sports.
Invited pupils from both the junior and senior departments take part in a series of events designed to give them a chance to try out new sports, as well as developing skills in their own specialist area.
Last term, senior pupils took part in a netball master class with two former pupils and last week, junior and senior pupils were involved in a cricket master class with Tony Jones, the Under 17 Girls lead coach from Bucks Cricket Board.
The focus was on ball control and fielding, skills which the girls will find very useful in the forthcoming rounders season.
Samantha Hickman, head of girls’ games at Thornton said: “We run events like this during the year for girls who have demonstrated their abilities as all round games players in sports such as rounders and netball.”
