Nearly 300 people have been connected to broadband around a south Northants village thanks to a community broadband project.

The Tove Valley Community Broadband project was set up to bring superfast broadband to Abthorpe and had initially planned to have 200 members within two years of commencing operation. It is organised by volunteers.

Chairman, Eric Malcomson said: “Our volunteers have done an absolutely fantastic job in servicing the installations and they are to be applauded for their efforts on behalf of their communities.”

It is hoped the internet connection speed can be increased from 100mbps to 1,000mbps later this year.

Mr Malcomson has placed a video camera in a nest box at the back of his house so local people can watch a family of blue tits in action. See www.tvcsb.com.
