Morris men greeted the first sunrise of May with dance and music at 5.30am this morning.
Brackley Morris Men were joined by two other sides, the Northampton Morris Men and Royal Oak Morris Men, from Eydon, to carry out the tradition which has stood for centuries.
Brackley’s side, the oldest in Northants, has been dancing on May Day since 1981. This time they were accompanied by Brackley Morris Men musicians playing a melodian, concertina and fiddle. The three sides, abnout 30 people, danced until 7am. At 9.30am they provided the music for pupils from Waynflete Primary School as they performed some country dancing, also at Brackley Market Place.
