The Royal Latin School karting team has reached the national finals of the British Schools Karting Championship, the UK’s largest schools karting competition, in July.
The team, consisting of Georgie Chapman, Crispin Zuercher and Jake Lever, is only in its second year of running.
It entered the championship after qualifying through both the local knockout rounds in March and the regional knockout round last month, held at the Daytona track in Milton Keynes.
A school spokesman said: “More than 500 schools enter the competition so it is a fantastic achievement for the Royal Latin team to reach the finals, to be held at Whilton Mill in Daventry.
“A superb display of racing, starting in different grid positions for each race, gave final race positions of 2nd, 3rd, 3rd, 4th and 5th.
“This gave the team a final position of second out 25 schools.
“This year the team has been kindly sponsored by Protrain Kart racing, so thanks to them for their support.”
