Cannon fire, drums and flags will help tell the story of Towcester from Roman times to the English Civil War at a new exhibition.
Towcester Museum will open its second major exhibition tomorrow, Saturday, at its premises in White Horse Yard, opposite Richmond Road car park. A cannon will be fired on the hour, every hour, from Bury Mount which will also play host to re-enactors from the Sealed Knot who will conduct drill. There will be displays of Civil War weaponry as well as show and tell sessions with 17th century artefacts and a range of children’s games from the period.
Museum spokesman Martin Johns said: “This will be another fantastic fun day for families and anyone with an interest in our history. The day will celebrate Towcester’s long and fascinating past and in particular, on the opening day, our town’s part in the Civil War.”
The event runs 10am-4pm.
