New faces are being welcomed to key roles at a district council.

Councillor for Bicester North, Melanie Magee, has been appointed vice chairman at Cherwell District Council, supporting new chairman Alastair Milne Home, councillor for Banbury Calthorpe, following a vote at the council’s annual general meeting yesterday, Monday. He takes over from councillor, Lawrie Stratford.

Other changes include Tony Ilott (Banbury Hardwick) as the new lead member for clean and green and George Reynolds (Sibford) as the lead member for public protection. Councillor Reynolds remains deputy leader.

The new make up of Cherwell District Council is:

Leader – Cllr Barry Wood (Fringford) – unchanged

Deputy leader – Cllr George Reynolds (Sibford) – unchanged

Lead member for estates and the economy – Cllr Norman Bolster (Bicester West) – unchanged

Lead member for housing – Cllr Debbie Pickford (Bicester Town) – unchanged

Lead member for financial management – Cllr Ken Atack (Cropredy) – unchanged

Lead member for Banbury Brighter Futures - Cllr John Donaldson (Banbury Hardwick) – unchanged

Lead member for planning – Cllr Michael Gibbard (Yarnton, Gosford and Water Eaton) – unchanged

Lead member for clean and green – Cllr Tony Ilott (Banbury Hardwick)

Lead member for performance and communications – Cllr Kieron Mallon (Banbury Easington)
