An all-party scrutiny committee will be set up to oversee the development of the new Vale of Aylesbury Plan.
The motion to set up the scrutiny committee was put to last week’s Aylesbury Vale District Council (AVDC) meeting by Winslow district councillor Llew Monger, after the previous draft Vale plan had to be withdrawn in December.
It was carried by 23 votes to 21 and was supported by Buckingham district councillors Robin Stuchbury and Tim Mills and Luffield district councillor Pearl Lewis.
Mr Monger, who also chairs the Winslow Neighbourhood Plan steering group, said: “This really is so important.
“Communities right across the Vale need to know that they will have to take some level of development. They will be far more likely to support the proposals in the new plan if they can see that there has been proper oversight of the development of that plan by their elected representatives.”
