A BMX fundraiser has raised £800 and will help a 21-year-old to train for the Paralympics.
The event, held at Buckingham Skate Park on Saturday, was organised by Cameron McInnes and Charlie Bowles, both 17, for their friend Josh Hartley, 21.
Josh is paralysed from the chest down having crashed his motocross bike in August but he is now looking to train for the Paralympics, boosted by Saturday’s event.
Cameron’s mum Alison, who helped the pair organise the day, said: “Josh really was very touched by it all and his parents were too.
“I think it gave him a lot of confidence and he stayed right until the end.
“Some of the money will help Josh as he’s practising to do wheelchair racing.”
Alison, who lives in Aris Way, said the event at the Bridge Street park was a relaxed occasion for bikers, skateboarders and scooter riders to exhibit some of their tricks.
She said: “It went really well and it was great to see some of his loyal friends come down.”
